H.E. Mr. Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, will attend the 14th ASEM Foreign Ministers (ASEM FMM14) in Madrid, Kingdom of Spain, during 15-16 December 2019. At the meeting, the Foreign Minister will share his vision on how to enhance multilateralism in Asia and Europe, which is the main theme of the meeting this year.
 
The Foreign Minister will also have bilateral meetings with a number of heads of delegation in order to strengthen cooperation and relations between Thailand and other ASEM countries. Moreover, he will meet with two Thai youths who have been selected to participate in the 9th Model ASEM together with youths from 51 ASEM countries. The Model ASEM is annually organized annually by the Asia – Europe Foundation (ASEF) as a sideline event at the ASEM ministerial meetings and ASEM summits.
 
After the conclusion of ASEM FMM14, the Foreign Minister will participate in an ASEAN Talk event held under the topic “ASEAN-EU Partnership: Promoting Connectivity for Sustainability.” The event is jointly organized by the ASEAN Committee in Madrid and the Elcano Royal Institute. The event aims to raise awareness on ASEAN among the Spanish public, to strengthen relations between ASEAN and Spain and to enhance to role of Thailand as the ASEAN Chair of 2019.
 
The Foreign Minister will depart from Spain and pay a visit to the Portuguese Republic during 17-19 December 2019. On this occasion, the Foreign Minister will pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Augusto Santos Silva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Portuguese Republic. The Foreign Minister will also meet members of the Thai community in Portugal and visit a number of research institutions whereby both sides can discuss on future cooperation in the areas of Portuguese expertise such as the Champalimoud Foundation, which is a leading world class institute in medical science, and the Technical Institute at the University of Lisbon, which is famous for its research in artificial intelligence and oceans robotics.
