On 22 October 2019, Consul-General Krit Tankanarat, together with Mr. Kriangkrai Kanjanapokin, Chief Executive Officer of Index Creative Village and Mr. Hiroshi Mizohata, President of Osaka Convention and Tourism Bureau, presided over the opening of KiloRun Osaka 2019 at Taiyo no Hiroba near Osaka Castle. Present were Mr. Noppadon Pakprot, Deputy Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai and Japanese artists and more than 1,000 participants from 16 nations, including Thailand and Japan, who joined the event.

KiloRun is a new form of marathon, whereby one can run, eat and sightsee in one go. The first-ever marathon organized in Japan by Index Creative Village, the event consists of (1) “the breakfast run” or the 5 kilometres and 10 kilometres running competition and (2) “delicious run” or the running and eating of Thai and Japanese food competition for 3 kilometres.

On this occasion, Consul-General Krit applauded the event for helping to promote the exchange of Thai - Japanese culture through sports and food. Osaka, known as the “Nation’s Kitchen,” is the best city to start off this running and eating festival.
